Tortunnel and listening to Pandora outside the US: READ ME NOW!

Tortunnel is now officially defunct. But, good news, there is a solution! Tor has added options to let you pick the exit node’s country, rendering the need for a helper (and tortunnel) no more.

To get the updated tor, use a saver2 installer to install the tortunnel component again, and it will update you to use tor.

  1. I’m not quite sure what tortunnel is, but I use Tor with Pandora all the time while I’m deployed over here in the Middle East.

  2. Ahh, I wonder why Tortunnel was messing up so much. Are there any alternatives to Ultrasurf? It’s a bit too ‘nuclear’ an option to really be practical for most, as it takes over all internet traffic, not just that of one program. Huge fan of Saver2 by the way!

    • You can set a configuration option to make ultrasurf not set the system proxy.

      Here’s the u.ini I came up with.

      [Options]
      EnableShare=0
      LocalPort=8080
      UseHotKeys=0
      HideWindows=0
      NotUseIE=1
      AutoStartIE=0
      ClearCookie=0
      ClearHistory=0
      QuickCloseIE=0
      NotCloseIE=0
      HideGoldLock=1
      ProxyMode=0
      ProxyHost=
      ProxyPort=0
